Inspired by her background as a successful fashion photographer, fine
art photography by Alina Karo feels like a direct protest to the world
of modern beauty. Her work combines the elegant poses of high fashion
but with the grotesque, with the anti-sexual and with stunning
disregard for what is expected. Religious allusion, subtle eroticism,
and an undeniable sexual fluidity—Alina Karo tells the story of
mankind’s demise and modern-day vice. Shamelessly raw with a
Bacon-esque aesthetic, her dark manifest “Vollipsis” investigates
society’s increasing consumerism, environmental destruction, false
idols, the cult of the beautiful body and the irony of modern trendy
spirituality.
During her career Alina has worked with top modeling agencies in
Paris, London, New-York and Moscow, and with world renowned fashion
magazines including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Interview, L’Officiel,
SNC, Numero, Elle, Marie-Claire and many others.
